Beyonce's "Freedom," played as VP Harris took pictures and greeted about 70 college students Tuesday
About 70 college students greeted Vice President Kamala Harris Tuesday afternoon with cheers usually reserved for pop culture icons at the Community College of Philadelphia on National Voter Registration Day.
Upbeat music and high energy were matched by the students enthusiasm for the Democratic presidential nominee, after months of a campaign in which they and their peers wanted a change from the two aging candidates who had run four years prior.
Harris complimented the diverse group representing different schools in the city on their engagement and acknowledged the role they will play in the November general election. She encouraged them to focus on interpersonal communication, knowing the power of a simple handshake and conversation. She also encouraged them to make time for studies, sleep and eating vegetables, in what may have been one of the most Momala moments of her campaign.
In 49 days, were going to make such a big difference, and were going to win, she said. Through the next 49 days, we continue to build community and coalition. Lets leave something for the work we are doing right now that lifts people up, that strengthens people, that strengthens communities. Lets have that as our coequal goal.
Beyonces Freedom, one of the unofficial anthems during the Summer of Kamalove, played as Harris took pictures and greeted the attendees, including Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker.
