Senate Republicans losing patience with Johnson as shutdown nears
Republican senators are fast losing patience with Speaker Mike Johnsons (R-La.) inability to muster the votes to avoid a government shutdown at the end of September, and are warning they will take matters into their own hands if the House fails to act by Thursday.
GOP senators fear that Congress may stumble into a shutdown if Johnson cant get a short-term funding measure passed by the end of the week and are ready to work with Senate Democrats to stave off a potential disaster before Election Day.
Unless theres a breakthrough in the House over the next two days, the Senate is expected to move first by advancing a bill without any controversial policy riders that would fund the government until mid-December.
Its becoming a mess. Especially our military, theyre suffering. Even if you do a [continuing resolution,] you know they dont get the money theyd normally get. This whole things a debacle, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) said of the stalled funding process.

(11 posts)As the potential for a government shutdown looms, Senate Republicans have been expressing frustration with Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. The discontent is largely centered on Johnsons positions or actions that some Republicans feel are complicating efforts to avoid a shutdown or advance key legislative priorities.
The frustration reflects broader tensions within the GOP about how to handle budget negotiations and government funding. Senate Republicans may be concerned about Johnson's influence or decisions impacting their strategy and efforts to navigate the impending fiscal crisis.
This kind of internal party friction is not unusual, especially when critical deadlines approach and there are divergent views on how best to address them. For the most current and detailed information, including specific issues or actions leading to this situation, checking recent news reports and updates from reliable sources would be beneficial.

One can only hope, although Jan. 3 wont help the current budget dilemma, which is in need of urgent solving, like now. One has to wonder if Johnson, as a final FU gesture to his unruly faction, wont just toss up his hands in frustration, say fuck you all to the nut cases in his caucus, and make a CR deal for 5 months with the House Democrats.
