NH-GOV: Poll shows Ayotte with narrow lead over Craig in tight race for New Hampshire governor
MANCHESTER, N.H. In the first post-primary poll in the race for New Hampshire governor, Republican Kelly Ayotte has a slight edge over Democrat Joyce Craig.
Registered voters who responded to the Saint Anselm College Survey Center have Ayotte up 3 points, just outside the margin of error.
The poll shows a tight race with Ayotte at 46% and Craig at 43%. Among the registered voters polled, 6% said they're unsure, while 5% said they would vote for someone else.
"With the governor's race, we see that there's a 3-point margin with Sen. Ayotte in the lead at this point, and that could change," said Neil Levesque, of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics. "Remember that this polling was taken the day after the primary. People's feelings are still committed, maybe, to the candidate that didn't win, so it's still got to shake out a little bit."
