When disgraced former president Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts, making him the first former U.S. president convicted of felony crimes, his conviction confirmed what we already knew, that Trump is a corrupt opportunist, willing to deceive Americans in order to obtain and keep power.
Trump's presidency was marked by deception, division, and harm to the nation. Public spaces should represent values and leaders we admire, not honor a divisive figure who has caused so much damage. It's shameful that a public state park in New York still bears Trump's name!
Efforts to rename Donald J. Trump State Park in northern Westchester County are gaining momentum. New Yorkers have seen Trump's name removed from various properties, including skyscrapers & golf courses, & now the park should follow suit. Renaming the park would send a powerful message about rejecting attacks on democracy & embracing a future where dignity and respect prevail.
