Historically, there are hundreds of threats against the administration, all administrations. Normally, we never hear about the many failed attempts to take out a president. This guy never got a shot off, never really had a clean line of sight to the target.

In each of these cases, it was mentioned on the news on air and in print and done with within 24 hours.

The secret service has caught several different armed people trying to get to the Whitehouse, making death threats against Biden, and attempting sneak into Biden's inauguration even, over the past 4 years. All of them were a one day, back page story. Their faces never even make it onto TV

But the latest guy targeting Trump gets multi-day wall-to-wall cable news coverage, with thorough investigation of his background, desperately hoping they can find some way to pin it on Democrats, which of course Trump and a lot of Republicans already have.
