I posted this on my Friends-Only Facebook feed today. Good feedback so far.

Things I Learned In Public School in the 50s and Early 60s

I grew up, as many of you know, in a small town in Southern California. I lived there until I was 18, and then I moved away and never lived there again. Like everyone else, I went to public school from Kindergarten through High school. We had pretty good schools.

Throughout that 12-year education, I learned over and over again about the history of the United States and how our government operates. I was a straight A student, so I was paying attention. We studied the Declaration of Independence and repeatedly studied the Constitution of the United States.

We learned why we had the Revolutionary War and established our own nation.

We learned how the USA was designed to work by our founders.

I never forgot what I learned, but from time to time in my adult life, I went back and reviewed those documents. I have read the entire Constitution dozens of times in my 79 years on this planet. I have voted in every election since 1966, when I turned 21 and voted absentee from the USAF base in Turkey where I was assigned.

I take all that stuff seriously, and I pay attention.

I've also listened to Donald Trump many times. He has said he wants to be a Dictator from Day 1. Well, we had our Revolutionary War to free ourselves from a tyrant, King George III. Our Constitution is designed to prevent a tyrant from ever gaining control of the US government.
Donald Trump has also said that the Constitution "needs an overhaul." Why did he say that? Because he does want to be a tyrant and a dictator. He needs to change the Constitution so he can do that. I listen to what people say and I believe them. I believe that Donald Trump wants to rule like a King, rather than by the rules laid out in the Constitution.

So, I will not be voting for Donald J. Trump this November. I will be voting for Kamala Harris, who has not said she wanted to change the Constitution. She has not said she want to be a Dictator or tyrant.

I encourage everyone to listen to Donald Trump and to believe him when he says he wants to be a Dictator. That goes against the Constitution of the United States. Believe him. He's telling us what he plans to do. Vote for someone who doesn't plan to do that. We have the freedom to vote because of the Constitution. I suggest that everyone exercise that freedom in November and keep the nation on track.

Thank you for reading. You're welcome to share this post if you wish.

I'[m making an exception this year, because it's too important not to. So far, I've been surprised at the positive response from some people who I figured would ignore the post or argue about it. That's a good thing. The only people who visit my feed are current friends and old school friends from decades ago.

No kids, so I didn't experience their educations. I do remember, though, how thoroughly we were taught. I even remember how we were taught about the Civil War. No punches pulled.

Most of those who visit my feed are in my age group or the next generation. They went through the same school system I did. I'm just reminding them of what they learned at that time.

So that kids only see white kids.
That standouts are freaks, not gifted.
So that they don't learn from history -- the story of Hitler's rise reads like the current events.
They'll see that it's the same playbook.

and other reasons, of course

6. One only has to make the further assumption that those who support a tyrant have dark hearts

They know the suffering and impositions such a threatening regime would have of our society, you and me, and they're good with it. In a very real way, they hate their fellow American, the majority of Americans.

We believe if fairness for everyone and we'd hope they would to, but they do not. Their hearts are dark. They want the ugliness to prevail. That's what they stand with, because they are tired of losing elections and tired of being the minority.

And don't forget cozying up to dictators, threatening to pull licenses of new media companies he doesn't like, weaponizing the DOJ, trying to overthrow an honest and open election.
Trump has no use for the rule of law, except when he's the law.
Anyone who claims he isn't serious about being a dictator from day one is either in total agreement with him, or badly delusional.
And remember, dictators never give up power except by death or violent overthrow.
He's not going to Make America Great Again, he's going to tear it down and rebuild our government as a Putin style dictatorship.
Trump embraces a policy of hate, and hate never made anything great.
