(3,717 posts)I've only seen red used. Just out of curiosity.

(1,022 posts)I don't think the curb is red, either.

(3,717 posts)(mine's not, and I have a hydrant on the corner), so I can't attest to that, either. I would think that if it's not in use, they would remove it and cap the line. Otherwise, some poor fireman is going to go through the trouble of running hose, uncapping, hooking up, and turning it on, to get no pressure (at night, perhaps, maybe can't see color as well).

(4,873 posts)The hose could have been run over or around the car.
I'd like to know if the FD is legally liable for damages.

(4,873 posts)I still wonder though how much leeway a FD typically has in moving/damaging obstructive property when fire fighting.

(3,717 posts)I imagine anything goes. As far as damage, if idiot tries to sue, I see a major ticket in their future. Ticket is probably going to be given anyway, but if they fuss, it'll just get bigger.

(807 posts)If a vehicle is parked in the fire lane, like in front of stores, the fire department can ram it, run over it, knocked it out of the way. They could potentially set it on fire and let it burn. Police can wreck a car, tear down a fence, whatever they think they need to do.
And all of them can bill you for it.

(147,017 posts)Those hoses are very stiff. You need a pretty good straight shot at the hydrant to connect.
But, the curb there is red. Park there, and you get what you deserve. Don't park there and everything's hunky-dory.

(4,873 posts)In any case, the hose is quite close to roof elevation as it is.

(3,717 posts)and that's what was sticking in my brain when I read "ugly at any angle". The fire hydrant isn't exactly a thing of beauty in my eyes, so I hope you understand my confusion!

Yes, I know water only makes lithium fires worse.

There are some really creative and beautiful wraps out there.

(13,206 posts)So when we pulled into a parking lot, she pointed out an empty spot where one had pulled through and told me to " there's a spot in front of that dumpster..."
She could only see the back end of it between the SUVs on either side of it .
When she saw it up close, she asked me if the designer used cardboard to make a model of it for the engineers.
Very astute, if you ask me.

(80 posts)In an article published just today, Business Insider speculates that this vehicles early sales success may not be predictive. It is mostly seen as a status symbol. The Foundation Series, the only model for sale, starts at $99,990, making the Cybertruck wildly out of reach for the average shopper.
