Roof, the Charleston church shooter, had a pending pot and stalking charge on him. South Carolina law says if the gun store doesn’t hear back within 3 days it’s up to them. The sold him the gun. He killed 9 people with it.

Some glitch at ATF (I think that’s who maintains the database) delayed response. The press conference to announce this was one of the most painfully sad things I’ve ever seen.

I have bought a handgun at a gun show, back ground check & 3 day waiting period were done.

In Fla all gun show sellers have to have a firearm dealers license and do all checks.
People walking around the parking lot with their own firearms do not but they can do that in any parking lot.

He never fired (reportedly) and because it was detected early, they can't prove target for any intended actions.

He's being held on the firearm charges. They have alot material to go through. I know I read he could be charged with something like this.

Someone was recently charged with a plot to murder Trump (murder for hire)
It didn't quite make the news.
https://www.nbcnews.com/investigations/pakistani-man-charged-murder-plot-us-politicians-potentially-trump-rcna165433

Either way, if evidence shows that he was planning to commit a murder, I believe that is a crime. However, they need strong evidence. More than just someone saying, "I wish that SOB was dead". In this case, they have writing an essay. Staking out the golf course for 12 hours. Bringing a firearm, scope etc. He was obviously there with a mission. And he can be charged, I think.

Written Threat? (none reported at least yet)...
Online Threat? (none reported at least yet)...
Fired shots at anyone? (none reported at least yet)
Made voiced plans to shoot anyone TO anyone? (none reported at least yet, albeit he does have a son, so...)
History of threatening ANYONE with violence? (none reported at least yet, albeit early in the investigation)
Purchased large amounts of AMMO lately? (none reported at least yet, albeit early)

It may not be the "no-brainer" suggested by some...
Gun charges may be the best they can do in terms of charging him.

If you don't think a Grand Jury isn't going to be seated, I've got a bridge to sell....

Armed man arrested for threat to kill Justice Kavanaugh
https://apnews.com/article/us-supreme-court-brett-kavanaugh-district-of-columbia-maryland-government-and-politics-179d18e7f933b3decbaddb542ceb0b29

Roske was dressed in black when he arrived by taxi just after 1 a.m. outside Kavanaugh’s home in a Washington suburb. He had a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, a knife, zip ties, pepper spray, duct tape and other items that he told police he would use to break into Kavanaugh’s house and kill him, according to a criminal complaint and an affidavit filed in federal court in Maryland. Roske said he purchased the gun to kill Kavanaugh and that he also would kill himself, the affidavit said.

When he got out of the taxi, Roske was spotted by two U.S. Marshals who are part of round-the-clock security provided to the justices following the leak of the draft opinion last month. But Roske was only apprehended after he called 911 in Montgomery County, Maryland, and said he was having suicidal thoughts and planned to kill Kavanaugh, having found the justice’s address online. Roske was still on the phone when Montgomery County police arrived on the scene, according to the affidavit.

Written threat? No
Online Threat? No
Fired Shots? No
Made voiced plans? Yes

It's pretty obvious what he did.
He sat there for 12 hours waiting for at Trump's golf course
He was armed. AK 47 with scope was pointed
Firearm was loaded
SS fired and he took off.

I'm sure there is a trail of "why" he was there.

I read he can face additional charges up to five years, so I'm thinking it's the "threatening public servant" charge.

(I can't find the article, but read it this morning)

and stating before them that "everyone knows" is NOT going to get it done.

I don't doubt there is more to come and will likely form the basis for a solid case, but it has to be verifiable and validated evidence. We certainly aren't there yet--even if his past arrests and mental illness-fueled threats to Kavanaugh are documented. That can't be transferred nor purported to show a threat to Trump without more. A threat to one does not equate to a threat to ALL unless there is more DIRECT evidence.

I have no "dog" in this incident except to desire that justice prevail against a very ugly backdrop of RW/MAGAT's motivation to manipulate and exploit the situation. So, I prefer we all take a collective breath.

Do you really think they're not going to investigate further?

According to the ongoing press conference:

US Attorney:
They have obtained warrants on video recording device, cell phones, vehicle, other electronic devices located at previous known addresses. Numerous interviews and that is just the beginning. Honolulu and Charlottesville Offices are involved in the investigation. Rifle with scope, two bags, ceramic tiles, DNA, processing vehicle of evidence.

Compiling cell phone analysis of movements in days and months leading up to the yesterday's event

Will be conducting analysis.

Going through his online searches and correspondence etc.

are underway and we will have to wait to see what they have-- repeatedly and continually. Your response to me:
"Do you really think they're not going to investigate further?"

So, I'm just going to step away because this is totally disingenuous and you know it. Have a good day but don't do this to others either. You are better than this.

not how this works at all, and it's not uncommon.
The initial charges are the obvious ones so he can be arrested and held. There will most likely be further charges as the case is investigated and facts/evidence gathered. Conspiracy based charges are probably in the stars too as soon as the lawyers figure out if all of the elements are there.
