(1,150 posts)...but I do remember that the Bible/God was really big on honesty. Lying was looked down upon in a rather big way.
Has there been a major re-write or, as I suspect, as a lot of those claiming to be Christian really, really bad at Christianing?

(2,399 posts)I was thinking about this yesterday. It's not just "don't lie" This biblical wording of this commandment as I was taught it, is more translatable as "don't slander your neighbor" which is more precisely what Vance and the whole Orange Pustule campaign have been doing. Falsely attributing crimes to a people (their literal neighbors in this case) in hope of stirring up the would-be vigilantes among their deplorable over-armed followers.

(11,223 posts)Years ago in an old country Baptist church, I heard a preacher's wife talk about it. It's ok to sin, if you sin for Jesus according to her.
That's why they are good with being horrible to other people. They are doing it for Jesus.
I mean Catholic monks were good with torture. And priests or preachers are good with sexual abuse and child rape. So sinning for Jesus is all good.
