(104,971 posts)the absolute adoration for Jesse James-- whose post-civil war murderous train and bank thefts were looked upon as Robin Hood though no one but James (and Younger brothers who were part of his gang) ever profited. He rode with the horrific William Quantrill and his riders before and after the war murdering anti-slavery residents.
Yet, the loving memories and iconization of Jesse James persist.
Still, this underscores how readily a legendary martyr could be made of someone as disgusting and horrible as Donald Trump. So, whatever your feelings no one wants THAT to happen.
