News networks are giving the false impression the shooter is a Democratic opponent of Trump enough room to take root

...before the truth catches up.

CNN's running a misleading news strip at the bottom of their screen that says the alleged would-be assassin "criticized Trump," as if he was a standard opponent.

Wesley Routh (the latest assassin) is a republican and voted for Trump in 2016.

...here's his criticism:

...he was a Nikki Haley fan:

...and a Vivek voter:

In an April 2024 post on X tagging President Biden’s presidential account, he wrote that Biden’s campaign should be: “called something like KADAF. Keep America democratic and free. Trumps should be MASA …make Americans slaves again master. DEMOCRACY is on the ballot and we cannot lose.”

Routh also has ties to North Carolina, where public records show he registered as an “unaffiliated” voter without a party in 2012. He voted in that state’s Democratic primary in March of this year, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Routh has contributed more than $100 to ActBlue, which processes donations for Democrats, federal campaign finance records show.

...he's clearly rooted in republicanism.

Especially their promotion of the gun culture.

Like the young republican shooter who was killed after he killed a fellow republican, this fellow only likes republicans he agrees with, and perpetrated violence against one republican who he disagrees with.

He also referenced the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump in multiple posts, suggesting that President Biden and Vice President Harris should visit the injured and attend the funeral of the Pennsylvania rally-goer who was killed.

Yes, he voted 'Democratic' in the 2024 primary election in North Carolina, but that doesn't make him a Democrat. This person who tried to game is election by shooting Trump likely voted in that election as a spoiler.

"North Carolina state law provides for semi-closed primaries, meaning that a voter generally must be registered as a party member in order to participate in that party's primary. A previously unaffiliated voter can participate in the primary of his or her choice."

Cherry-picking factoids does not advance our cause and makes us look just as detached from reality as the MAGAts.

That's what I'd call cherry-picking.

He's also unstable and looking for answers right, left and central. What I have seen so far is he was for Donald in 2016, was for Bernie in the primaries, Jill Stein in the 2020 general and in the 2024 GQP primaries had texted Haley or Ramaswamy that they needed to run together to win the day. He was literally all over the place.

This is pretty classic behavior from people who assassinate presidents. They've often been delusional with no consistent political affiliation.

Also, Trump's speeches are designed to stir up emotions like paranoia, resentment, anger, confusion... he's a walking assassination magnet. Just saying.

And would sympathize with anyone who could stop Trump (whether in 2020 or 2024). It would explain why he was pushing Haley andV Vivik to join forces.

I know earlier this year he was tweeting campaign suggestions to Biden.

Your post claims he's a Republican. I don't think he's ever been a registered Republican. He voted Trump in 2016 but you said it yourself in another thread: just supporting a Republican/Democrat doesn't make one a Republican or Democrat. Like you said in that post, Cheney isn't a Democrat just because he supports Harris.

I'm pointing out that he's anti-Trump and has been for multiple years. He didn't vote Republican in 2020, and registered to vote in the Democratic primary this year, while also giving money to Democrats.

That does not make him a Democrat. But the claim he's a Republican because he voted for Trump in 2016 and tried to get Haley and Vivek to join forces, ignoring everything else he's done with Democrats, is disingenuous.

The guy is clearly deranged and anti-Trump. That's all that needs to be said.

Not that he's a Republican (he isn't) or a Democrat (he isn't). Or MAGA (as I've seen people say here).

He voted in the 2024 Democratic primary (almost certainly against Biden), donated through Act Blue, and was a Sanders supporter. He wasn't just a Republican. It sounds like he was an anti-establishment type.

I also saw a tweet of his where he called for justice against the cops who killed George Floyd. He really was a mixed bag. Probably didn't like either party.

He seemed to have notions about politics, but he couldn't seem to stick with anything, only voted "against" some things he didn't agree with. He voted for Trump in 2016. Did Trump go too far? It would explain his stuff about Haley and Vivek.

It will be spun as if he was a true Democrat, no matter what. The MSM bobbleheads have an agenda to promote, after all.

In the end, this was just a guy who was failed by the system, who didn't get treatment he needed, and now he'll be in prison for life.
