MAGA Republicans are to blame for Trump's shootings. Democrats tried to prevent them.

...earlier in the campaign, Donald Trump bragged about not doing anything as president to get guns like the one that shot him, and the AK rifle that was found on the scene of the latest attempted assassination, off of the street.

Speaking at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex early in the campaign, Trump – an NRA Life Member – boasted:

"You have a right to self-defense, you’ve always had that right, and during my four years, nothing happened, and there was great pressure on me having to do with guns. We did nothing. We didn’t yield. And once you yield a little bit, that’s just the beginning. That’s the avalanche begins.

No Democrat advocates any form of violence against Donald Trump. In fact, our Democratic nominee has worked hard, against Trump republicans in Congress, to advance reasonable gun safety bills which would take guns like the one he was shot with out of the general public's and dealer's hands.

Donald Trump and his republicans accomplices are largely to blame for this shooting; certainly not the majority of Democrats who fought for and passed gun safety bills against the constant objections of republicans.

...and I just saw republicans raffling off guns at their convention right after he got shot at and one of his republican supporters was killed.

It's just sickening. If Trump, himself, hadn't deliberately blocked legislation taking guns like the one that shot him off of the street, that kid might not have had the firepower to commit the act, this serial criminal might not have had access to his weapon.

At the very least, it's more likely they wouldn't have possessed those weapons if republicans hadn't been blocking gun reform decades before Trump came to D.C..

Something is seriously wrong with republicans today. At the very least, party members should check their own and make certain there isn't another shooter developing under their own roofs as they support this radical, violent party.

Donald Trump posting images of President Biden bound and gagged; posting images of himself brandishing a baseball bat at the head of the man prosecuting him; his entire panoply of violent rhetoric and outright threats against Americans; all of these threats and derision is being witnessed almost daily and internalized by republicans.

Should be frightening as hell for them that it's these republican shooters' own political party that they targeted for their killing sprees. They've taught their followers that public servants are enemies of the state when they do things they disagree with.

Just today Donald Trump was directing his followers to emulate his "HATE" against Taylor Swift for daring to oppose him in his election, supporting his rival, and having the temerity to state her reasons for doing so.

In fact, the very same 9-11 conspiracy monger who was seen exiting the plane Trump took to the debate where he smeared thousands of Haitians with the vilest of rumors, has called for the execution of Democrats who oppose the convicted former president, "Not just jail, they should get the death penalty."

It's just not surprising to find these potential political assassins are republicans. What's surprising is that they attacking their own party - president and supporters alike - instead of the target that republicans have been projecting on Democrats for the entirety of the Trump era.

I'd take that as an ominous sign if I was a member of that cultist party. Their lives aren't at risk from Democrats adverse to dangerous weapons; from supporters of the actual targets of over a 1000 rioters sent by Trump to ransack our Capitol and harm Democratic legislators, all at the direction and urging of Donald Trump.

There's blowback coming from republicans' very homes, from their very family members. They've steeped themselves in violent rhetoric from their party leaders, and now they're obligingly turning their weapons on republicans they disagree with and hate.

Any reasonable person realizes he’s deranged, a gun nut, not solid in political party, etc. But I’m no longer sure reasonable people are the majority anymore.

Like as soon as a non-Republican commits a crime, suddenly all Democrats are to blame?
