I'm not going to speculate on what your motivation is in explaining what this jackass is doing, that's on you, but here is what HE IS doing: He is engaging in stochastic terrorism, pure and simple. Yes anyone can drive around town and see who has what candidate's campaign sign on their lawn, but for this sheriff to publicly identify them in his official capacity for the reason he did is stochastic terrorism. His job is to keep the peace, not to stir up trouble, and that's what he's doing.

People blame Fox news (and rightly so) for all the hatred on the right. But it is Limbaugh, who really started it. Well, technically, the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine started it. But Limbaugh was the first to capture a big audience and set the stage for Fox News and other haters like Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Tucker Carlson, ad nauseum. I know my sister in law and former best friend both started by listening to Limbaugh and eventually got sucked into the larger right wing rabbit hole. My sister in law used to be an intelligent thoughtful person and a strong liberal but is now a lost cause. She may even be a Q-anon believer (but I don't know that for sure). I refuse to visit my brother because I could not stand to be around her. Unfortunately, I have a hard time telling that to my brother so I just make other excuses. I do what I gotta do to live my life in peace.

I don't think my best friend is as far gone as all that but honestly, I've had very little contact with him since 2017. I'd rather hold onto the pleasant memories of our friendship than have to deal with the fact that he supports the indefensible in Trump. I know some are able to put aside differences like that, and we rarely touched on politics in our conversations, but my personal values are the complete opposite of everything Trump espouses so I cannot be true to myself if I pretend I'm OK with these people in my life supporting Trump who I truly consider to be pure fucking evil. It's not just a difference of opinion to me. It goes to core values as a person and someone who supports pure evil is not someone who I want to be around.
