Matthew Dowd: What Trump says about Haitians was once said about your ancestors

Matthew Dowd
if your ancestors were born in Ireland like mine, or were born somewhere in Asia, or Italy or Germany or were Jewish or were Catholic, and so many others, what Trump is saying about Haitians is just what they said about your relatives.

Dennis Donovan, my handle, was my great-great Grandfather who was born in Bantry Bay, Ireland in 1836. He came to this country in 1853.

What's being said about Haitians today is vile, however I wasn't around when Grandpa Donovan came to this country so I cannot say what was done to him specifically. But, it's known that immigrants were often scapegoated and exploited by Nativists (politically, they proudly called themselves the "Know-Nothings" ). So Matthew's point is made.
